The Bramshill Horse

The riders' and drivers' association

If you have a riding or driving permit for Bramshill, Warren Heath or Heath Warren woods you are a member of the association, and the association exists to look after your interests.

The riders and drivers association was set up in 1999 to represent the interests of horse riders and drivers of horsedrawn vehicles on Bramshill Common and adjoining woodlands. We are in regular contact with Forest Enterprise who manage the land.

We have helped to arrange resurfacing of some of the tracks, and have had some of the signage improved. We also help arrange the provision of jumps.

We actively encourage users to take out permits.

Our newsletter goes every six months to all permit holders and to local tack shops and riding establishments.

Advance notification of special events in the forest will appear here.

DANGER
There are harvesting (that means cutting down big trees) operations going on in the forest. Some riders have been ignoring the warning signs and going right up to working machinery. This is VERY DANGEROUS and the FC have said that they WILL cancel permits of anyone who endangers life in this way.

We now have an online group where you can raise issues about the forest. It's on Yahoo Groups, which seems to work with most browsers. You'll need to sign up and get a password to use it.

Forest Enterprise manage the woodlands. Our local forester is:

Fax: 01420 22082

You can follow this link to the Forest Enteprise Web Site.

Annual permits can be obtained from Forest Enterprise. They cost £55.00 each.

Forthcoming Special Events:

Sunday 2nd April, Quiz Night at the Hatch Gate.

Sue Bushell's quiz night at the Hatch Gate raised £31 towards improving the facilities. Unfortunately it was won by a team comprising the committe chairman, the webmaster and the Rycroft rep...

Sue also has a room to rent, which would suit another horse lover. Call her on 0118 988 2668 if interested.
